What's your niche?

While reading the blogs today, I found out about this little gem:

It's an interactive library cat map.

Yes, it is. Seriously.

Want to know if there is a Dewey-type creature near you? You can use that tool to help you find her...him...it...whatever.

Some programmer had waaay to much time on their hands, IMHO, because really, what's the POINT?

Anyway, my point isn't to complain, uh, I mean advertise, that website. My point is that these libraries each offer something that could reasonably be construed as interesting to some people. They have a mascot. A living, breathing THING to do their PR and "touchy-feely" type stuff. I am sure people leave the library feeling good. (Unless they have allergies, of course.)

What does your library have that makes it stand out above the rest? Surely there is something.

Give some examples. Warning: because the ideas you share may be cool, be prepared for other libraries to copy them. Don't be offended. Be flattered.

Ok...I'll go first. You twisted my arm.

I've heard that one library is known for having homeless people everywhere. Wait. No. That's not it. Oh! I know a library (yes, in Ohio) that the director is known for not using e-mail - EVER. No. That's not it, either. I got nuthin'. Help me out here.

I'm not talking programs...I'm talking unique every day offerings.

Make me want to come and visit you. What 'cha got?
